About Higher or Lower
A free, fast, no-nonsense trivia game about the video games we grew up with — and the ones taking over right now.
What the game is
Higher or Lower: Video Games Edition shows you two games at a time. One reveals a statistic — copies sold, critic score, or release year — and the other hides it. You decide whether the hidden number is higher or lower, and every correct call extends your streak. One wrong guess ends the run, so every decision counts. It is the kind of game you start during a coffee break and somehow finish twenty rounds later.
Why we built it
We love the strange, surprising facts buried in gaming history: the quiet indie that outsold a blockbuster, the decades-old classic that still outscores modern releases, the sequel that shipped years before you would have guessed. Higher or Lower turns those facts into a quick, replayable challenge that works on any device, with no install and no account.
Where the data comes from
Sales figures, critic scores and release years are drawn from publicly available sources and are intended as approximate, for-entertainment values. Because the game only ever compares the relative order of two numbers, small differences in the exact figure never make a round unfair. Cover artwork shown on the cards is loaded from Wikipedia for illustration, and all game titles and artwork remain the property of their respective publishers and owners.
